Greta Grant is a visual artist and art educator living and working in Portland, Maine. Her work explores human impermanence and mortality through a diaristic lens and a variety of media, primarily color photographs made with medium format film. Though she was born and raised in Connecticut, she has spent much of her life in midcoast Maine, a setting that has greatly influenced her artistic practice.
In May 2016, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Maine College of Art, majoring in Photography and minoring in Art History. In August 2017, she returned to Maine College of Art to study art education, and in May 2018, she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching. As an art educator, she works to foster her students' authentic self-expression and to create an equitable classroom where students of all backgrounds, skill levels, and social standings can grow and develop as artists.
